When did my passion for listening to Carnatic music turn into my being a torch-bearer for this composer Oothukadu Venakta Kavi ! Was it by the images evoked by the songs bringing to life the sports and pranks indulged by Krishna. Was it the lilting tunes , the rhythms that had me doing a dance mentally! Was it the sheer simplicity of the songs that were still poems. I confess I can't say for sure. But I do hope I can pass on some of the magic that holds me bewitched through my articles and translations of his songs.
